Tech Talk: Context Aware Music Recommendation and Visualization

Ivana Andjelkovic, PhD candidate in Media Arts & Technology program, at UC Santa Barbara, will present a project that aims to improve music listening experience through personalized and context aware recommendation software. State of the art music recommendation systems often rely on noisy song descriptor data or simple emotion models to describe listening context. In this talk, Ivana Andjelkovic will discuss a way to categorize and visually represent music by utilizing professionally curated mood descriptors and by drawing upon existing research of music related emotions.

Andjelkovic's current research interests are in music recommendation and navigation through large music collections. With the background in computer science and information visualization, she is also developing visual interface for music discovery.
